Guidelines: SavannaPoets Online Open Mic August 2025 Edition

Welcome to the SavannaPoets Online Open Mic (#SpoomCompetition)!

This is a monthly virtual poetry reading competition, and we're thrilled to have you join us for the August Edition.

How to Submit Your Entry
To participate, record your poetry reading video and upload your submission here (link is disabled at 11:59pm on August 20th, 2025). Alternatively, you can email your entry directly to us at savannapoets@gmail.com.

Please include the following in the body of your email:

• Your Name
• Title of Poem
• The Poem (the text)
• Description (if any)

Entries will be uploaded on a first-come, first-served basis and featured on our YouTube channel. You have until August 20th, 2025 to submit your entry.

Prizes and Winners
The entry with the highest number of views by 7:00 PM on August 30th will win the grand prize of 200,000 Naira, with the first runner-up receiving 100,000 Naira.

Important Guidelines

• Age Requirement: Submissions are only accepted from individuals who are 16 years of age or older.
• Winner Eligibility: To encourage new talent, winners from the previous month's competition are not eligible to take part in a competition for another 12 months and any submisisons sent in within that time will be posted but will not be eligable to win.
• Multiple entries: To ensure fairness, multiple entries by one poet will not be allowed.
• Theme: All themes and genres are welcome.
• Entries' Deadline: The deadline was 7 PM, August 20th, 2025.

Video Guide

• Creativity: By all means, be creative; break all the boundaries (you can even make your submission an animation video!).
• Editing: You can make your videos more engaging (if you can) by adding special effects, sounds, and even subtitles.
• Copyright: Ensure you have the right or license to use any audio or visual elements in your videos. Do not use copyrighted material. For more information read our copyright guidelines
• Above all, make sharp videos with clear audio.
