Guidelines: SavannaPoets Online Open Mic June 2025 Edition

Welcome to the June Edition of SavannaPoets Online Open Mic (#SpoomCompetition), a monthly virtual poetry reading competition.

For submissions, record your poetry reading video and upload your submission here. Alternatively you can email your entry directly to us at savannapoets@gmail.com.

Please indicate the following in the body of the email:

  • Your Name
  • Title of Poem
  • The Poem (the text)
  • Description (if any)

Entries will be uploaded on a first-come, first-served basis and featured on our YouTube channel. You will have until June 17th 2025 to submit your entry. The entry with the highest number of views by 7:00 pm on June 27th will win the grand prize of 200,000 Naira, with the first runner-up receiving 100,000 Naira.

Theme: All themes and genres are welcome.

Entries' Deadline: 7 pm, June 17th, 2025

Video Guide:

  • Creativity: By all means, be creative; break all the boundaries (you can even make your submission an animation video!).
  • Editing: You can make your videos more engaging (if you can) by adding special effects, sounds, and even subtitles.
  • Copyright: Ensure you have the right or license to use any audio or visual elements in your videos. Do not use copyrighted material.

Above all, make sharp videos with clear audio.

    Hello. I sent a poem early this morning titled "when they stare longingly". I would like to know if it has been approved. I have not seen it on the youtube channel yet.
